NVCA
Hosts Popular VC Education Dinner for 12 Congressmen
On April 25, NVCA hosted 12 moderate Republican congressmen
at the Quadrus Conference Center for an informal introduction
to the VC industry. NVCA members Tom McConnell with New
Enterprise Associates and Kevin Fong with Mayfield Fund
provided the congressmen with an overview of the VC industry,
our policy priorities, and general observations about Silicon
Valley and the growth of the new economy.
After dinner, Tom and Kevin along with Reid Dennis from
IVP, Craig Taylor with Alloy Ventures, and Tom Stevenson
from Sequoia led an enthusiastic informal discussion and
question and answer period.
NVCA staff received compliments about the program, which
was sited by several of the congressmen as the highlight
of the three-day Silicon Valley trip. All members of the
Main Street Republican Partnership, the trip was attended
by: Reps. Amo Houghton (NY), Jim Walsh (NY), Rick Lazio
(NY), Charlie Bass (NH), Mike Castle (DE), Vernon Ehlers
(MI), Fred Upton (MI), Doug Ose (CA), Chris Shays (CT),
and Judy Biggertt (IL).
NVCA will continue to educate these and other members about
VC and industry policy priorities.
